Benidorm is a destination that, for the most part, speaks for itself. There are very few people who haven’t at least heard of this sun-kissed city on Spain’s famed Costa Blanca, and fewer still who, having discovered and visited, aren’t tempted to return again and again. Because for anyone looking for that classic Mediterranean beach holiday vibe, with absolutely everything your family’s heart could desire, there really is nowhere better.

Beautiful beaches? Tick. Practically 365 days a year of sunshine? Tick. A wide and exciting range of activities and attractions to suit every demographic? Tick. Amazing Spanish and British cuisine that will have you salivating for more? A big delicious tick! And, most importantly of all, access to quality, affordable accommodation with everything you need to make your family’s holiday genuinely memorable? A final, very resounding tick — especially if you choose to stay at La Caseta Apartments, Benidorm.

At La Caseta: Life is Beautiful (And Easy!)

From La Caseta Apartments, Benidorm is super easy to explore, and the location makes it an absolute pleasure to soak up the highlights of the city and get further afield, as well. The surrounding neighbourhood of the apartments enjoys a lovely tranquil atmosphere, and everything is within convenient walking distance, with a perfect score for the most important aspects: just a ten minute stroll from the beach, five minutes from the Benidorm Old Town, and zero minutes from the gorgeous L'Aiguera Park, which the apartments overlook.

Like we said, the location of the neighbourhood is pretty hard to fault, which is easy for us to say, because we know it like the back of our own hands, so we know how much there is to love about it. But we appreciate when you arrive in an unfamiliar city to start a self-catering holiday, there’s nothing more welcome than a bit of a heads’ up on all the important amenities close by — particularly when you’ve got a young family in tow.

With that in mind, here’s a quick, at-a-glance guide to supermarkets, playgrounds, and public transport in and around the neighbourhood of La Caseta Apartments, Benidorm’s best choice of accommodation.

Supermarkets

When you’re self-catering, the first thing you’ll need to do once you’ve unpacked the bags is get some supplies in. You’ll definitely be tempted to eat out once in a while, because not only is there a really great restaurant right on the doorstep of the apartments, you’re also very close to the Old Town, where there’s further fantastic choices. However, you’ll save a lot of money by shopping locally and cooking at home in the apartment’s fully-equipped kitchen.

Right next door to La Caseta is a large Mercadona supermarket, which stocks a huge range of goods including fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery items, meats, gourmet deli foods, ready-to-eat items, and wine and soft drinks. This is a medium-sized chain supermarket, so you’ll find many familiar English items alongside the local Spanish produce. It couldn't be handier to do your grocery shopping, and if you forget the milk you’re only a few steps away.

Playgrounds

As we said at the beginning, La Caseta Apartments, Benidorm, are located right opposite the well-known L’Aiguera Park. This lovely green space is a great place to explore with the kids on a leisurely morning stroll, with its huge palm trees lining the marble walkways. (As a landmark, it serves as a separation between the Old Town and the newer parts of the city.)

Not only is it a great place for children to stretch their legs, there’s also two amphitheatres that hold regular events, and an onsite fairground if your holiday coincides with fiesta time!

Within the park is the Parc Infantil, a playground with plenty of free play equipment that’s open 24 hours, and El Escondite parque de bolas, a children’s amusement centre. Also not too far away is the popular Parc de Foietes, another city park with picnic tables, restrooms and a children’s playground.

Public Transport

Being in such an excellent location, you won’t find a great need for public transport on your holiday, because walking really is the best way to get around the immediate neighbourhood and into the Old Town. However, if you do want to venture further afield it’s not a logistical problem, even with children.

Being opposite the high-profile L’Aiguera Park means there are several options for public transport to get you around, including to the new part of the city for shopping and central attractions, the beaches, and the various theme parks. You can hop on bus numbers 003, 012, 026, 052 and 054, which will take you to various parts of the city, and the L1 and L9 on the light rail system, which have stops near the park, is also a convenient way to get around. You can buy single or “tourist” tickets (which are valid for up to a week, depending on which you purchase), and the transport system runs until approximately 11pm.

Particularly with a family, many visitors also find local taxis are a reasonably cheap and convenient way of getting around.
